Developed in association with the Brompton Hospital in London, the sanatorium was funded by public subscription, one of its most famous supporters being Charles Dickens.

The development consists of 5 no. individual bungalows, 66 no. one and two bedroom apartments with luxury communal facilities, mature landscaped gardens and lift lodge access to the vast public gardens that run down to the sea front.
